This Blog will be in many parts over the coming weeks and will show you where the wood we use comes from and some of the history behind the scenes.

Every delivery of timber to our factory is different, some batches of wood comes in long lengths and some small and the same can be said for thickness with each beam being slightly thinner or thicker.

We work very closely with reclamation company’s that get contacted when a building is about to be demolished, so an opportunity to purchase the wood becomes available.

Our latest batch of Reclaimed wood comes from a local town called Retford, and its previous life had been served in a large Rubber manufacturing company.

The Northern Rubber Co Ltd

The Factory was established in 1871 and was designed to provide rubber for many uses including the following:  Rubber for Railways, Steam Ships, Mines, &c. Waterproof Cloth and Clothing.

The wood we use for this batch is dated to be 147 years old.
