Our Reclaimed rustic wood is salvaged from many places around the UK, for example just yesterday we contacted our reclamation team to purchase 4 tones of vintage timber that had just been taken down from the roof of a steam engine restoration factory in Guernsey.
Our last 2 batches of wood were from a Hospital in Scotland and also a university, The beauty of Real rustic furniture is that every single piece has history.
But there is another product out there that isn’t real at all, has no history and also contributes to the ever growing deforestation because the wood used has been just chopped down within the year!
This product is called “PLANK” or commonly known as “RUSTIC” and in the small print “rustic plank”.
Plank is a much cheaper replica of the furniture we and others pride ourselves in making, which is true 100% authentic reclaimed wood furniture.
Plank has a very mellow and yellow tone with no depth and grain like that of real reclaimed wood, the process used to make plank look rustic is simply a rough blade that chops the wood to size.
Reclaimed wood has over 50 to 200+ years of weather and abuse to the wood that only decades can produce the look we love, Nail holes deep into the wood that had once been made from blacksmiths and also cracks in the wood and uneven surfaces because of sun damage and changing of temperature over the generations.
